The month of November witnessed plenty of sporting events this year. On this page we will highlight the top national and international sports stories for the month of November.

In the National sports news, the 59th Senior National Boxing Championship took place in which the Railways defeated Services by a point to win the overall championship, with a tally of 43 points. Nanao Singh - Light flyweight boxer of Services was declared the best boxer of the championship. The North Zone National Ranking Table Tennis Championships singles title was won by Sanil Shetty and Madhurika Patkar of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) at the Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi. 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist Saina Nehwal retained her third place in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) women's rankings which was released in the month of November.

In other Indian sports news, Mary Ann Gomes from Kolkata became the third player in last ten years to retain the National Women's Premier title in Chess. International Master Himanshu Sharma of Haryana emerged as champion by drawing his final round with nine points in the All India Open Fide Rating Chess Championship. In second position was International Master Das Arghyadip of West Bengal with eight points and third was Kantilal Dave of Rajasthan.

In India-England Cricket Test Series, England got crushed by nine wickets in the first Test, however India's spinning track backfired and England inflicted a humiliating ten wicket victory on the hosts in the second cricket Test to level the series 1-1. After conceding a vital first innings lead, the Indians were trivial within an hour's play, leaving England an easy target for victory which they achieved without much fuss.

In International news, Usain Bolt, The Jamaican sprinter, won the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Athlete of the Year award for the fourth time. In Australia-South Africa Test Series, South Africa wins the third test match and the series to remain at number one spot in test cricket and in Sri Lanka-New Zealand Test Series, New Zealand registered their first Test win in Sri Lanka since 14 years after defeated Sri Lanka by 167 runs in the second and final test match.

Soon after the series, Ricky Ponting one of the greatest modern-day batsmen, retires from international cricket. In tennis, the Czech Republic re-claimed the Federation Cup after Lucie Safarova defeated Serbia's Jelena Kankovic with an unbeatable 3-1 lead. The Czech Republic also beat holders Spain 3-2 to win the Davis Cup for the first time as an independent nation. The US Grand Prix, the first Formula One race on American soil since 2007, was won by Lewis Hamilton as he emerged as a surprise winner in U.S.
