Under-19 World Cup 2014

The clash of the Under 19 cricket teams, the Under 19 World Cup 2014, is going to be held in February 2014. This ODI-format game will be played among 6 nations, which includes 10 test-playing countries having ICC Full Membership (India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and South Africa), 5 affiliate qualifiers and regional associates (Canada, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan, and Namibia), and the host of 2014 Under-19 One-day World Cup Tournament - United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Under 19 World Cup 2014 Groups



All the 16 teams are categorized in 4 groups - Team A, B, C, and D:
  • India, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, and Scotland are in Group A.
  • Bangladesh, Australia, Namibia, and Afghanistan are in Group B.
  • West Indies, South Africa, Canada, and Zimbabwe are in Group C.
  • Sri Lanka, England, New Zealand, and United Arab Emirates are in Group D.
History

The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup is an international cricket tournament of the ODI format. The first such tournament was organized way back in 1988. However, the second tournament took place after 10 years on 1998. Since then, the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup has been organized after every two years.

  • In 1988, the host country was Australia. Australia was the winner and Pakistan was the runner-up.
  • In 1998, the host country was South Africa. England was the winner and New Zealand was the runner-up. Bangladesh secured 3rd position.
  • In 2000, the host country was Sri Lanka. India was the winner and Sri Lanka was the runner-up. South Africa secured 3rd position.
  • In 2002, the host country was New Zealand. Australia was the winner and South Africa was the runner-up. Zimbabwe secured 3rd position.
  • In 2004, the host country was Bangladesh. Pakistan was the winner and West Indies was the runner-up. Bangladesh secured 3rd position.
  • In 2006, the host country was Sri Lanka. Pakistan was the winner and India was the runner-up. Nepal secured 3rd position.
  • In 2008, the host country was Malaysia. India was the winner and South Africa was the runner-up. West Indies secured 3rd position.
  • In 2010, the host country was New Zealand. Australia was the winner and Pakistan was the runner-up. Bangladesh secured 3rd position.
  • In 2012, the host country was Australia. India was the winner and Australia was the runner-up. Sri Lanka secured 3rd position.
