Information on London Olympics 2012

For a sport to evoke an interest among the natives of a country, it is very essential that the sports persons perform decently well, if not emerge winners always. Who would like to sit glued to a match, whose outcome will generally be the country they are sporting loosing almost every time? This applies aptly to Indian Olympic Scenario. The performance of the Indian athletes at the Olympics improved considerably with Indian athletes getting individual medals for the country.

The London Olympics will start from 27th July 2012 and continue till 12th July 2012. The events of the opening ceremony will be coordinated and put together by the renowned Hollywood director Danny Boyle and his team which will be followed by parade of the teams' nation wise. This will kick start a sporting extravaganza lasting several days. The sporting events to be held in the London Olympics include Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Canoe Slalom, Canoe Sprint, Cycling, Diving, Fencing, Football, Gymnastics (artistics, rythemic and Trampoline), Handball, Hockey, Judo, Modern Pentathlon, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Water Polo, Weightlifting, Wrestling and few others. Athletes from around 204 National Olympics Committees will participate in the upcoming London Olympics.

Paralympic Sports are also held each year at the Olympics and this year is no exception. For those unaware, Paralympic sports are events held for the athletes with physical disabilities. There are as many as 20 events that will be held under Paralympic section of the Olympics. These include Cycling, Equestrian, Football, Goalball, Judo, Powerlifting, Sailing, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Rowing, Wheel Chair Basketball, Wheel Chair Fencing, Wheel Chair Rugby, and Wheel Chair table tennis among several others.
