London Olympics 2012 Venues

London Olympic organizers deserve a pat their back for completing the venues before the scheduled dates. Recently they were quoted as saying that preparations were in great shape for the construction of venues and the final test events were being completed fast. It includes the Olympic park, too. The test events were grand in terms of number of participating athletes and spectators attending the events.

Sebastian Coe, head of the local organizing committee of the London Olympics 2012, admitted that these events have indicated towards the areas of improvement; however no major change was required. He expressed satisfaction that London was ready to host the biggest sporting extravaganza in the world. The London Olympics would be held this year from July 27 to August 12, 2012 with Paralympics taking place just after that i.e. from Aug. 29 to Sept. 9, 2012. All England Tennis Club with a capacity of 30,000 spectators will host the tennis events. The famous grass courts of Wimbledon would also host the Olympic tennis events after 1908. Aquatics Centre with a capacity of 17000 will be the centre of activities for diving, swimming, Paralympic swimming, synchronized swimming, water polo, and modern pentathlon.

Basketball Arena will see the basketball, wheelchair, handball, and wheelchair rugby championships. Indoor volleyball championships would be held at the Earls Court and you would be able to enjoy rowing, canoe sprint, and Paralympic rowing at Eton Domey with 30,000 people cheering for their favorite stars. Wheelchair tennis events would be held at Eton Manor.

ExCel, with a capacity of 10,000 people will be bustling with life when boxing, fencing, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting, wrestling, boccia, paralympic table tennis, paralympic judo, paralympic powerlifting, sitting volleyball and wheelchair fencing championship would be held during London Olympics. For the equestrian fans the centre of attraction would be Greenwich Park, where equestrian, jumping, dressage, eventing, paralympic equestrian and modern pentathlon. It can accommodate 33,000 sports lovers. For the adventure lovers and the bikers Hadleigh Park would host the mountain bike championships. You would have to head towards Handball Arena to enjoy the handball, goalball and modern pentathlon events.

Hockey fans should secure their seats for exciting hockey matches at Hockey Centre. Paralympic 5 aside football and paralympic 7 aside football would also be held here. The fun game of beach volleyball would be held at Horse Guards Parade. Triathlon and 10k Open Water Swim events would be held at Hyde Park.

Canoe Slalom events are scheduled to be conducted at Lee Valley White Water Centre. Archers will compete for medals at Lord's Cricket Ground, whereas gymnasts would keep us spellbound through their artistic gymnastics at North Greenwich Arena. This venue would also host trampoline, basketball and wheelchair basketball.

Some 80,000 spectators would get the adrenaline rush at the athletics events to be held at Olympic Stadium. All athletes & officials will stay in the Olympic Village. Regent's Park would be witness to road cycling heroes. The Royal Artillery Park will see the aggression of shooters and archers when shooting, paralympic shooting and paralympic archery events would be held here. Track cycling and BMX championships would be held at Velo Park. Badminton and rhythmic gymnastics competitions would be held at Wembley Arena. Sailing would be held at Weymouth & Portland Harbour.
