Asia Cup 2022

  • The 2022 Asia Cup is the 15th season of the Asia Cup cricket competition, with matches staged as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in the United Arab Emirates in August and September.
  • The event, which was originally slated to take place in September 2020, was rescheduled for July 2020 because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • It was later rescheduled for June 2021 in Sri Lanka, only to be postponed again. After maintaining the rights to host the 2022 edition, Pakistan was set to host the event.
  • However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed in October 2021 that Sri Lanka will host the event in 2022, with Pakistan hosting the 2023 edition. India is the reigning champion.
  • Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed to the ACC on July 21, 2022, that it would be unable to host the tournament due to the country's political and financial problems.
  • On July 27, 2022, the ACC announced that the event would be held in the United Arab Emirates, with Sri Lanka Cricket hosting the event.
