According to the experts, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony would be far more impressive than the one held in Beijing Olympics in 2008, though the details and content is not disclosed as yet. Whatever be the schedule, the organizers of the show will make sure that the opening ceremony with 80,000 spectators in the stadium along with 10,000 athletes representing 205 nations would be a memorable event in the history of Olympics.
The Opening Ceremony nowadays is taken as an opportunity not only to showcase the best of the host country and city, but also to assert the financial prowess, prestige and competitiveness of a country. Some of the best features of any opening ceremony are the parade of all representing athletes and arrival of Olympic Flame. It signals the beginning of the biggest month long sporting festival in the world.
Danny Boyle has already been recognized for his great work and academy awards and now the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games is supposed to establish himself as a superb artistic director and creative personality. Apart from the programs prescribed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the artistic performance of the ceremony is left to the organizers. They can program it according to their custom, culture and preferences.
The president of the IOC, Jacques Rogge would welcome Her Highness Queen Elizabeth of England at the entrance of the stadium. Greece is the place where Olympics were first started, so to honor the country in the Olympic Games, Greek team is paraded first. The UK team would be the last team to enter the stadium.
LOCOG (London Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) Chair Seb Coe's speech will follow the parade ceremony. The president of the IOC, Jacques Rogge would be the next speaker. Then Queen Elizabeth would formally announce the opening of London Olympics 2012. After that, the Olympic Flag would be brought inside the London Olympics stadium and the Anthem would be played, while the flag will be hoisting in the air. The flag would keep on flying in the main Stadium, till the games are over.
The oath ceremony would then be conducted and a participating athlete, judge and coach from the United Kingdom would take vows to compete and adhere to the rules of the games. The final episode would be to transfer the Olympic Flame through the athletes to the final Torchbearer, who will ceremoniously light the Cauldron in front of 80,000 people, the Queen and millions of TV viewers across the world. It will mark the inauguration of the Games. Then the grand artistic celebration directed by Danny Boyle and filmmaker Stephen Daldry would begin to enchant the audience.
