The month of April 2013 observed lots of sporting events this year. We will highlight the top national and international sports stories for the month of April.

In the National sports news, Rahi Sarnobat clinched India's first pistol gold at the World Cup which was held in Changwon, South Korea. The Maharashtra girl defeated Kim Kyeongae from Korean by 8-6 in 25m pistol event. Rahi joins the elite club of Indian rifle shooters who won Gold in the ISSF World Cup.

In the 17th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships held at Patiala in Punjab, ONGC came out as overall winners, winning titles in both men and women category. Kerala acquired the second position. Tamil Nadu came second in the men's section while Kerala came second in women's section.

In the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship, India came on top in the freestyle category in the Senior Asian Championship which was held in New Delhi. The overall champions with a medal tally of 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze were South Korea. China and Japan came in at second and India finished third with nine medals, 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 6 Bronze, which was their best performance ever.

In Cricket, the Indian Premier League 2013 started with a huge bang, the championship had many spectacular moments and matches between the nine teams. The tournament will finish by 26th May 2013.

In International news, Rafael Nadal's eight year reign was ended by Novak Djokovic at the Monte Carlo Masters with a 6-2 7-6 victory in the Tennis finals. Nadal was the only player to win eight times in a row, he had enjoyed a 46 match winning streak at the event.

In the US Masters Golf 2013, Adam Scott defeated Angel Cabrera to win the 77th Masters, as a result becoming the first Australian Golfer to attain the green jacket.

Fernando Alonso, Spanish Formula One Racer and two times World Champion, won the 2013 Chinese Grand Prix that was held at the Shanghai International Circuit in Shanghai, People's Republic of China.

In Ice Hockey, United States won the 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship which was held in Ottawa, Canada. Canada was the runner-up with Russia at third place and Finland at fourth place.
