IPL 2012, also known as IPL Season 5 was a thrilling IPL T20 session. Talented cricketers and able captains fought hard for the trophy and lots of records were made and broken during the season. If we look at highest individual scores, then Jamaican player Chris Gayle tops the table with his unbeaten knock of 128 runs. He scored it at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi for his team Royal Challengers Bangalore, against Delhi Daredevils on May 17, 2012. He faced 62 balls and his strike rate during the match was 206.45. The second highest individual score was made by Murali Vijay of Chennai Super Kings during his excellent knock of 113 runs on 58 balls against Delhi Daredevils.

Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians comes at third place with his unbeaten 109 on 60 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders on their home ground Eden Gardens with a superb strike rate of 181.66. David Warner of Delhi Daredevils comes at fourth place with 109 not out on 54 balls against Deccan Chargers on May 10, 2012 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad with a strike rate of 201.85.

The discussion of individual scores in IPL 5 would be incomplete without quoting the incredible innings played by Manvinder Bisla of Kolkata Knight Riders, who hit a smashing 89 on 48 balls against Chennai Super Kings on May 27, 2012 at Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, with a strike rate of 185.41. This was a memorable ton as it was delivered in a high voltage and stressful final match in which CSK had already scored a mountain of runs at 190.

Team Performances


If we talk of team performances, Chennai Super Kings lead by skipper MS Dhoni won a total of 10 matches and lost 8 with a win percentage of 52.63. Gautam Gambhir's Kolkata Knight Riders won 12 and lost 5 matches. Harbhajan Singh's Mumbai Indians won 10 and lost 7 matches. Virender Sehwag's Delhi Daredevils won 10 and lost 6 matches.

Most Wickets


When we talk about the maximum wickets taken by the individuals, Morne Morkel of Delhi Daredevils tops the charts with 16 matches, 378 balls and 25 wickets. He gave 453 runs and his best spell was 4/20 against Kings XI Punjab. Sunil Narine of KKR, played 15 matches with 355 balls and 24 wickets to his credit. His best spells was 5/19 against Kings XI Punjab. Lasith Malinga of Mumbai Indian comes at third place with 14 matches, 333 balls, and 22 wickets. His best performance was 4/16 vs. Deccan Chargers.

Most Dismissals by Player


Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians tops the charts for most dismissals with 17 matches, 13 catches, and 1 run out. The second place for maximum dismissals goes to Ajinkya Rahane of Rajasthan Royals, who played 16 matches and took 11 catches. Suresh Raina of Chennai Super Kings played 19 matches and claimed 11 victims. Among the wicketkeepers Naman Ojha of Delhi Daredevils claimed 16 wickets, Brendon McCullum of Kolkata Knight Riders took 14, MS Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings took 14 and Nitin Saini of Kings XI Punjab took 9 wickets.

Overall - Most Hundreds


Among the centuries scored in the championship, Kevin Pietersen of Delhi Daredevils made 305 runs with a strike rate of 147.34. His best performance was against Deccan Chargers with 103 runs. David Warner of Delhi Daredevils made 256 runs and his best was 109 against Deccan Chargers. Murali Vijay of Chennai Super Kings made a total of 336 as far as his centuries are concerned and scored 113 vs. Delhi Daredevils. His strike rate was 125.84.

Overall - Most Fifties


Chris Gayle of Royal Challengers Bangalore made 733 with his fifties and his strike rate was 160.74. Gautam Gambhir of Kolkata Knight Riders followed with 590 runs with a rate of 143.55. His best was 128 vs. Delhi Daredevils.

Overall Most Sixes


Chris Gayle of Royal Challengers Bangalore made 128 on 62 balls against Delhi Daredevils on May 17, 2012 at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. He scored 7 fours and 13 sixes with a strike rate of 206.45 in this incredible innings. Among the boundaries, the second best performance was by Kevin Petersen of Delhi Daredevils against Deccan Chargers on Apr 19, 2012 at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, when he made unbeaten 103 with 64 balls and scored 6 fours and 9 sixes with a strike rate of 160.93.
